Singer, dancer, producer, songwriter, and actress Beyonce has just released her latest album entitled “The Lion King: The Gift!” The album was inspired by Disney’s live action remake of “The Lion King” and features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, Tierra Whack, and Jessie Reyez. Also, look for Bey’s husband, entrepreneur and rapper Jay-Z on “Mood 4 Eva” and their 7-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter on the empowering track “Brown Skin Girl!”
The album sounds pretty different than what many of us are used to hearing from Beyonce because these songs are steeped in African influence and sounds, but what else is new?! Beyonce is ALWAYS on the hunt to do things creatively and different from everyone else and this album is no different. According to Rolling Stone, the African artists and producers (who are from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and South Africaa) involved in the production of this album “believe it will be a major boost for their international footprint — especially in America, the world’s biggest music market, which has been far less welcoming to African artists than the U.K. or France.”
Make sure you download ‘”The Lion King: The Gift” on all platforms and buy your tickets at your favorite local theater to check out Beyonce as the voice of Nala, Donald Glover as the voice of Simba, & the legendary James Earl Jones as the voice of Simba’s father, Mufasa in the photorealistic remake of Disney’s “The Lion King!”
