Congratulations are in order for actress Auli’i Cravalho who will be starring as Ariel in the live musical of “The Little Mermaid” that will air on ABC! Cravalho made her debut back in 2016 as the voice behind the title character of the Disney film “Moana!” Cravalho also reprised her “Moana” role in the 2018 Hawaiian-language dubbed re-release of the film, which was the first time a Disney film was dubbed in Hawaiian!

“The Little Mermaid” live musical (not to be confused with the upcoming live action film remake starring Halle Bailey as Ariel) will be aired November 5, 2019 and also stars multi-talented Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress Queen Latifah as the evil sea witch Ursula. Everyone’s favorite crab Sebastian will be played by Grammy Award-winning Jamaican reggae singer and producer Shaggy. The ABC press release announcing the musical advises that more cast announcements will be provided at a later date.

ABC’s Good Morning America shared the following tweet today teasing the upcoming live event:
