Get Ready, DC Universe: Dwayne Johnson Will Appear as ‘Black Adam’ in 2021 Film!

Actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has officially confirmed that he will play the title role of “Black Adam,” a DC Comics motion picture that is slated to begin filming in July 2020! In a recent Instagram post, Johnson confirmed the news with a concept art photo and a caption referencing his childhood, superheroes, and his excitement about this upcoming film:

“Like most kids growing up, I dreamed about being a superhero. Having cool superpowers, fighting for what’s right and always protecting the people. Now, years later as a man, with the same DNA I had as a kid – my superhero dreams have come true. I’m honored to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it’s a true pleasure to become BLACK ADAM.”

Fans of Shazam will know that Black Adam is his arch-nemesis and apparently is the son of Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses the Second. DC Comics fans will also know that this film has been a long time coming with rumors of Johnson making a cameo in the Shazam film, but the appearance did not happen. This was probably because the powers that be knew that the complex character of Black Adam needed a feature all his own.

We at AccordingToLariah.com are fans of Johnson’s work and definitely look forward to bringing you more information as we learn of it regarding filming, the premieres, and the release of the film which is set for December 22, 2021!
