Thank God it’s Friday! Well, it was yesterday 😏 We’re keeping the intro short so let’s get into this week!
We’ll be starting with songs from Billie Eillish’s new album, “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT,” which is out now!
SKINNY: This song starts off with a melancholy melody similar to a lot of her other songs. The song isn’t that bad! I don’t really care for it but she sounds good! 7/10
LUNCH: This one has a fun little melody. Now I think a lot of people knew that….well, I won’t give away the subject matter in the song so let’s just say it seems VERY specific to her. Anyway, ehhhhh, kind of mid…kind of a slay?? 8/10
CHIHIRO: It gives this sci-fi drama type instrumental a bit after the middle mark with this kind of airy but also somewhat heavy vibe to it. The song isn’t bad at all, honestly! It’s pretty catchy and also kind of gives “Stranger Things” vibes! 9/10
BIRDS OF A FEATHER: This one gives movie soundtrack vibes: running in a rainy field or maybe a really expensive vitamin commercial in some parts (mainly the end instrumental). It isn’t my favorite, at all, but it’s good! (Maybe it might grow on me??) 6/10
WILDFLOWER: BEAUTIFUL song! I forgot it transitioned from “Birds of a Feather” and instrumental towards the end is beautiful….this one ate! 9/10
THE GREATEST: Mannnn, I kind of figured this album may have a bit of a depressed vibe to it. This song is pretty but also sad at the same time. I hope things have improved for girlie tbh. 7/10
L’ AMOUR DE MA VIE: (translated to Love of My Life) Ooooh, she said she LIED when she said he was the love of her life! 😲 ANYWAY, I don’t actually care for the song or the switchup in it at all but that’s okay, though. Maybe you will!!! 4/10
THE DINER: This song’s intro sounds fancy….OOOOH! It seems like the whole theme of this song is her being a stalker, which fits the song’s mysterious vibe. However, there’s SOMETHING in the chorus that I don’t like: the key, the pitch….I can’t put my finger on it! Overall, the song’s good! (Also: not the phone number at the end of the song…..LOL) 8/10
BITTERSUITE (part one apparently): NAURRR CAUSE WHY IS BILLIE ACTING ALL FREAKY GIRL NAURRRRRRR! 😆 (part two) This one’s got freaky stalker vibes again and it gives the emptiness of the “Stranger Things” soundtrack, which is interesting! 7/10
BLUE: Honestly, I’d say this one’s a good ending to this album. It has a similar vibe to the other songs, but in an ending credits kind of way. There’s also 2 different parts to the same song similar to what feels like almost all of her album, you’re not quite listening to the same song (which, for some, may be irritating but it’s okay.) Anyway, the song was good! 8/10
Overall Rating of the Album: 7.8/10! It was definitely not new but also very new from Billie. It still had her signature depressing vibe half of the time but in a more creative (sometimes kinda freaky) way. Some of the songs weren’t exactly my style, but the album wasn’t BAD at all! Anyway, slay!
Okay now it’s time for the new singles!
“Dispose Of Me” by Omar Apollo: Ever since his song “Evergreen” (maybe before), it seems Omar’s just been straight up depressed. Hopefully, Omar can bring back “Want U Around” type of vibes which, to me, was a different type of depressed. 3/10
“Chase It (Mmm Da Da Da)” by Bebe Rexha: I mean…it’s Bebe Rexha alright? It isn’t like I can criticize her but it’s definitely the type of song she’d release! It isn’t bad: it’s just.. Bebe! 7/10
“NANi” by Saweetie: I just KNOW imma hear the neighbors blasting this song, rattling all the houses around them with the bass! Despite the utter fear I have for our neighborhood peace after this release (LOL), this song is fun and a cute little hot girl summer song!!!!! 10/10
